There was a big twist in the baby DJ saga in tonight’s first-look episode of Hollyoaks, as Darren Osbourne found out that he's not the biological father.

In the run-up to DJ’s christening, Ollie (Aedan Duckworth) was left searching for his dad Luke (Gary Lucy), who has run off after learning he is the real dad to Mandy’s son.

When Ollie met up with Darren – who is still in the dark about DJ's paternity – he went into panic mode when he found out that Luke's been invited to the christening.

Knowing he's recently fallen off the wagon with his sobriety, the teen is left worrying whether his dad will blurt out the truth and ruin the big day.

And he was right to be worried. When Luke turned up, an emotional scene unfolded in which Luke explained to his baby son why he’s giving up his chance to be a dad so that DJ can have a proper home with couple Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn) and Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson).

Although he decided not to rock the boat, Darren overheard everything!

Will he keep this secret to himself, knowing Luke is stepping back to allow him to raise baby DJ? Or will he be forced to tell Mandy the truth?

The revelation arrived ahead of Hollyoaks’ stunt week, with first-look pictures revealing Luke spirals out of control as his alcoholism takes its toll. In a drunken state, Luke is perfectly placed to make the problem 10 times worse.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the impact the week's events will have on Luke, the character's actor Gary said: "It completely spins him out. He feels a whole mix of emotions, and he feels betrayed by Ollie and Cindy.

"As a father, I can relate to how heartbreaking it must feel to have lost out on all of the times with baby DJ, the big moments.

"Especially in regards to Luke not having a choice and not being around when Ollie was growing up, I think it's going to cause a lot of upset and a lot of emotional turmoil for him."

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing at 7pm on E4.
