Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy has spoken exclusively to Digital Spy about Luke Morgan's unexpected new romance with Cindy Cunningham.
Last month, we revealed that Luke will have a new relationship with Cindy (Stephanie Waring) when he's released from prison – much to the surprise of his estranged wife Mandy.
Luke reappears in Thursday's E4 episode (August 29) after serving his time for his assault on Scott Drinkwell. He initially focuses on trying to win Mandy back, but his attention later shifts to Cindy.
Speaking to Digital Spy about what's ahead, Gary explained: "Mandy knows Luke is due out and has agreed to let him stay. Part of his release is that he needs a fixed base. He's going to be at Darren and Mandy's flat, which was Luke's previous place.

"You can imagine Cindy is sleeping on one couch and Luke is sleeping on another, so it's a recipe for disaster!

"Luke surprises them all at The Hutch. They're expecting and hoping to see Tony, because he's gone missing. But lo and behold, it's Luke that turns up.
"From there he's got a plan – he's going to try and get back with Mandy. He hatches that plan, but it all goes the wrong way, unfortunately for him!
"Luke then falls into bed – or on the sofa – with Cindy, which is the start of something new and very exciting."

On the new romance, Gary continued: "I love it. I've always respected Steph. She's a fantastic actress and always was back in the day, when I was in Hollyoaks first time round. I was excited to work with her.
"I have to say, the chemistry is great with her. She's absolutely bonkers off set, in a great way! I love that. I think we're going to do some really good work together, so I was really pleased.
"I think Cindy falls for Luke quicker than he falls for her. It's a bit of fun at first – a 'will they, won't they?' dynamic. It takes him a while to realise that there are genuine feelings there."
Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood previously told Digital Spy that the fact Cindy is Mandy's stepsister provides "great territory to explore" once the new relationship gets under way.

Gary added: "I think Mandy's nose is put out of joint, that it's happened under her roof. But eventually she'll get her head round it!"
Luke is now a full-time character again, as Gary has returned from an extended break after going on tour with The Full Monty.
He told us: "I'm really pleased to be back. It's like coming back home. It was lovely coming back in the building, seeing all of the familiar faces, and catching up with everybody.
"The tour was very successful, I loved it. We sold out pretty much everywhere we went. I loved the job, as the buzz of live performances is great.
"By the end of it, I was exhausted travelling up and down the country. I was quite looking forward to getting back to a regular base – and what better base than where I am now?"
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4.
