Hollyoaks star Ross Adams has praised Scott Drinkwell's new relationship storyline with Mitchell Deveraux.
The show has confirmed that the pair will develop a romance later this year, following Mitchell's unexpected interest in Scott in the last two episodes.
Earlier this week, viewers saw Mitchell realise he was attracted to Scott when he witnessed his friend's latest drag performance as Anita Tinkle.
Initially, Mitchell is only interested in Anita, but the slow-burn storyline that follows will explore his growing connection to Scott too.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about the new plot, Ross explained: "The producers explained it to me by telling me first of all that Scott was going to become a drag queen. The story was that Scott finds a love interest when he's in drag – but somebody who loves him more as Anita than Scott.

"But through that, a relationship develops and it's a really sweet love story – as well as a coming out story for Mitchell."
Asked how Scott reacts to Mitchell's feelings, Ross laughed: "Scott is clueless initially – standard! Story of Scott's life! He's been busy upgrading his drag act, which includes hip pads and a massive big wig. The wig is tremendous – I feel like Julie Goodyear!
"When Mitchell saw Scott dressed like that for the first time, he was blown away by it. But Scott has no idea whatsoever, until they have their first kiss.

"The kiss is really sweet, but it comes out of nowhere. It's a bit of a surprise. Scott has just done a gig and Mitchell is in the alleyway because him and Cleo are going through a bit of a rough time.
"A kiss happens, but Mitchell and Scott pull apart afterwards. Mitchell runs away and Scott wonders what has just happened. Poor Mitchell is in turmoil, because he's really confused over his feelings and what this is all about.
"We then look into the aftermath of that. What's good is that Hollyoaks are taking their time with it."
Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood recently told Digital Spy that this storyline has been planned ever since Mitchell was introduced earlier this year.

Speaking about the preparation for the plot, Ross added: "Hollyoaks arranged a drag workshop for me. We had a fun afternoon where we got to try out different wigs. I've also watched loads of Drag Race.
"One of our writers on the show, Amrou Al-Kadhi, is a drag queen so we've had quite a lot of contact together. He's helped me to get an understanding of it.
"What's really interesting is that Scott is really un-confident, but when he's in drag, he suddenly becomes a lot more confident.
"I really want Scott to find some happiness and I think this new relationship really works. I think it's a really unusual partnership. Those are the ones that, as a viewer, I love to watch myself. I like to see something you don't expect. The way they're telling it is really sweet."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
