Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has finally revealed who Mackenzie Boyd chose to save in the crash story.

Mack faced an impossible decision earlier in the week when both Charity Dingle and Chloe Harris's lives hung in the balance as their car teetered over the edge of a cliff.

While the soap had previously left on a literal cliffhanger without showing who Mack chose to save, Wednesday's (October 11) episode confirmed that he'd saved his estranged wife Charity.

Mack tried to race down the cliff to find Chloe once the car hit the ground, but Charity held him back and insisted that Chloe must be "gone".

Mack eventually made his way down the cliffside anyway, with Charity following to urge him not to blame himself. They rushed to the wreckage to find Chloe battered and bloodied — but alive.

"Keep your eyes open," Mack begged as he cradled Chloe.

An emergency helicopter soon arrived on the scene and Chloe would be airlifted to the nearest hospital. Charity was left behind with Mack waiting for medics, and she assured Mack there was "nothing else" he could have done.

"Yes there was," Mack replied. "I could have got her out first."

Charity tried convincing Mack what he'd done "wasn't a choice", yet Mack insisted he had made his choice — and they both knew it. The episode closed with the two watching Chloe being airlifted away.
