Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh and Leyla Harding are engaged after Liam popped the question in tonight's episode (May 4).
But the romantic proposal almost didn't happen after Meena Jutla initially got the wrong end of the stick when she saw Leyla and her boyfriend David Metcalfe together.
Liam wanted to give Leyla the perfect proposal and enlisted his daughter Leanna for help. But with little time to spare before Leyla was due to arrive, they also called on David to help keep Leyla busy until the surprise was ready.

But while David was trying to stall Leyla, Meena saw them blowing a kiss to each other, mistaking it for something more than it was.
What to Read Next
When Liam finally had everything set up, Leyla arrived to see champagne and flowers. But before Liam could pop the question, Meena stormed in to accuse Leyla of trying to steal David.
As tensions rose between the two women, David was forced to step in and explain to Meena that he only spent the morning with Leyla because Liam needed time to set up his proposal.
Once Meena and David were gone, Liam told Leyla he had wanted to make this moment perfect for her.
But while Liam thought that everything had been ruined, Leyla insisted that it wasn't and added that the most important thing was the love between the two people.
Liam then got down on one knee and delivered a heartfelt speech about how much he loved her before asking Leyla to be his wife. Leyla then exclaimed "yes" and the pair celebrated their engagement.
Despite tonight's happy scenes, Leyla and Liam actors Roxy Shahidi and Jonny McPherson recently admitted that they don't want their characters to live happily ever after.
"It would be too boring, please no," Roxy said last month. "It would be nice for them to have a period of joy for goodness sake and let them enjoy the work that they've put in. But ultimately no."
Jonny added: "We'd get about four episodes a year. It'd be: 'Oh they’re still happy? Great, see you later.'"
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
