Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has hinted that Andrea Tate could change sides in Jamie Tate and Belle Dingle's ongoing battle and end up supporting her scheming husband.

Thursday's (October 1) scenes saw Jamie receive some bad news from his solicitor, who warned him that his chances of avoiding a prison sentence for his hit-and-run on Moira Dingle are looking pretty slim.

Having been encouraged to come up with another plausible suspect to take the heat off himself, tonight's (October 2) episode saw Jamie concoct a fiendish masterplan.

In order to save himself, Jamie told the police that it was his ex Belle who was responsible for the hit-and-run, claiming that she blamed it on him afterwards.

With the police taking his allegations seriously, Belle was promptly arrested, as was Nate, who Jamie accused of blackmail.

Later, Jamie caught up with his mum Kim, who pointed out that Andrea may still back up Belle's story, meaning his efforts would have been in vain.

When Jamie later went to see Andrea, she initially refused to go along with his plan, insisting that she and Belle were going to bring him down and send him to prison.
