Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale fans will see Kim Tate make a return appearance tonight (October 2) as she receives an update on events at Home Farm.

Kim has been absent from screens in recent weeks, but has been checking up on her troublesome son Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) in regular phone calls.

In Friday's episode, Kim goes one better by appearing on a video call to see how things are going.

This marks the first time that Emmerdale fans have seen Claire King on screen in recent weeks.

Thursday's Emmerdale double bill saw Jamie receive bad news from his solicitor, who warned him that his chances of avoiding a prison sentence for Moira Dingle's hit and run weren't looking good.

Jamie was encouraged to come up with another plausible suspect if he wanted to keep the heat off himself.

In tonight's episode, Jamie thinks he has come up with a masterplan to fight back against his enemies in the village – but how will Kim feel about his tactics and are they as watertight as he hopes?

Speaking in July, Claire King explained why she didn't immediately return to work once Emmerdale filming resumed in the summer.

Claire told OK Magazine: "I have arthritis, so my immune system is compromised, which makes you more at risk of catching the virus.

"I had to get a doctor to say I was fit for work, so it's a case of waiting to be written back in."

More recently, Claire joked that Kim's absence fuelled Jamie's dark side, as he got most of her lines while she was away.

Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
