Emmerdale spoilers for next week follow.

Andrea Tate will take new steps to retain control over estranged ex Jamie in Emmerdale.

Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) has been wracked with guilt over leaving Moira (Natalie J Robb) injured in the road after accidentally running her down, but has been convinced to stay silent as part of Andrea's manipulation.

Next week, Andrea (Anna Nightingale) appears to accidentally mention to Kim (Claire King) that Jamie was the person responsible for the hit-and-run accident.

Jamie is already feeling down when Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) refuses to even hear him out over a drink because he has reconciled with Andrea.

Little does he know that Kim has already sprung into action, as she insists that they must cover up any evidence that he was behind Moira's crash.

"The thing that she knows about her husband is that he's very honest," the star told Digital Spy and other media. "She knows that unlike his mother, he struggles to keep anything secret. She goes out of her way to make him see what he could lose by coming clean about this.

"Andrea is worried about Belle ever being involved, and it would only take something as small as them having that together. She knows if she brings Belle into the mix that pushes her out of the picture somewhat.

"I really think it starts off as one thing and then develops. She wants to support her husband, and she would break the law to be with him and keep the family safe. I think that it changes when she sees his behaviour change towards her. She realises that something as monumental as this is not enough for him to fall back in love with her."

Emmerdale will air these scenes in the week beginning Monday, July 20 at 7pm on ITV.
