Emmerdale star Karen Blick has expressed hopes that the show will delve back into Lydia Hart's past.
Lydia's backstory was revealed in a tragic storyline last year, as her loved ones in the village discovered that she was once known as Jenny Finn.
When Lydia – then Jenny – was a teenager, she suffered a devastating loss as her baby son was stillborn. Lydia had kept her pregnancy secret and laid her son to rest in some woodland without telling anyone.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a recent Emmerdale press day, Karen was asked whether Lydia's years as Jenny could be explored further.

She said: "There's opportunity for that, I know that. Lydia's mother Agatha comes back on the scene.
"Lydia has still got the Huntington's test looming, so there's lots more avenues there for Lydia to explore."
On the reaction to Lydia's big story, Karen continued: "I think it's a way of understanding her behaviour. There's a reason for all of our behaviour, and it was understanding what had gone on in Lydia's past.
"In our own lives, if we know a friend or a family member that has suffered hardship, difficulty or a traumatic time, we do tend to understand and feel them. I think it's helped the audience connect with Lydia."

Next week's Emmerdale episodes see Lydia tie the knot with Sam Dingle in a heartwarming ceremony.
In the build-up to the wedding, some fans have even drawn comparisons to Zak and Lisa – another popular couple who were at the heart of the Dingle family.
Asked about the comparisons, Karen replied: "Maybe they could have that longevity – you just don't know, do you? The audience does like their relationship because there's the opportunity for us to have a lot of fun, with streaking and various daftness.
"But then we also explore the heart and the truth of who these characters are and the hardships that they've experienced in the past. I think the audience can relate to that."

James Hooton, who plays Sam, added: "It's interesting because Jane Cox, who played Lisa, left the show. It was very sad to see her go and it does leave a massive matriarchal hole in the Dingle structure, which in part is filled by the effervescent and amazing Lisa Riley coming back in. It's lovely to have her back. She's such a bundle of fun.
"Then in part I suppose, with the relationship flourishing between Sam and Lydia, they're taking that role as well."
Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
