Emmerdale has revealed that Vanessa Woodfield will go missing in the aftermath of her showdown with Pierce Harris.

Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) will be the first of the villagers to discover that Pierce is back on the scene, as she comes face-to-face with him in Thursday night's double bill next week.

Emmerdale's official spoilers have already revealed that Vanessa will chase Pierce after he snatches her young son Johnny outside The Woolpack.

While the exact details of what happens next have yet to be revealed, a new clip on Emmerdale's official website has confirmed that Vanessa and Johnny are nowhere to be seen the next day.

Vanessa's fiancée Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) feels responsible for her disappearance, as they had another heated argument shortly before she went AWOL.

The village vet is now failing to return Charity's calls, while Vanessa's sister Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and best friend Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) haven't heard from her either.

Although the natural assumption in the village is that Vanessa is simply taking time away following her arguments with Charity, it's surely no coincidence that she has gone missing so soon after seeing Pierce.

Could Vanessa be in danger? And how long will it take everyone to realise if she is?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
