Emmerdale has offered the first hint of an intriguing new storyline for Jamie Tate.
Fans have been left to speculate over Jamie's mystery contact, after Thursday night's episodes (May 17) revealed that someone out there is very keen to get in touch with him.
The latest visit to the village saw Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) pay a visit to his mother Kim at Home Farm, after Belle Dingle encouraged him to give her a chance.
A hesitant Jamie didn't stay for too long and just as he was leaving, he rejected a call from an unknown number.
Viewers saw that Jamie had received 12 missed calls – who could be so desperate to speak with him?
Some fans on Twitter have already started to share their theories, with some suspecting that Jamie could be in cahoots with Joe Tate.
What to Read Next
Could it be that Emmerdale hasn't quite finished with the Joe storyline, or is Jamie's new plot something else entirely?
Jamie returned to the village at the end of last month, having last been seen in 1999 as a toddler. Since then, his storylines have revolved around his fractious relationship with Kim and his struggles to impress the sceptical villagers.
Alexander said recently: "Jamie is very easily manipulated by [Kim], so he is brought back into the fold even though he doesn't want to be. She is his mum – and even when you're estranged from someone, you still want to have that relationship."
Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
