It seems EastEnders might be lining up a big storyline for Iqra Ahmed (Priya Davdra).

The Sun has reported that the character is about to send shockwaves through her Muslim family by coming out as gay on the BBC One soap.

Iqra has recently been seen hiding a string of mysterious texts, and next month it could be revealed that she is gay and messaging other women.

EastEnders has declined to comment.

Iqra's (at this point, hypothetical) reveal would mark the first time EastEnders has featured a lesbian Muslim character.

However, she wouldn't be the first gay Muslim on the soap, as in 2009 a storyline ran which saw Syed Masood (Marc Elliot) fall in love with Christian Clarke (John Partridge).

The reveal could be made by Iqra as she is confronted by Adam Bateman (Stephen Rahman-Hughes) over her big secret next week.

Hopefully then we will find out what those messages are all about.

EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
