Coronation Street has revealed a first-look clip at the moment Theo Silverton surprises Todd Grimshaw with an out-of-the-blue wedding. After their relationship and engagement was called off, Theo conveniently 'forgot' to cancel the wedding, and in scenes set to air this week, he springs the idea of going through with it as part of his latest attempt to control and manipulate Todd.
In a clip from the Wednesday, 25 March episode, Theo leads a blindfolded Todd into a room, taking it off to reveal they're in a registry office, with Gary Windass and Maria Connor there.

Theo takes out the wedding bands and asks Todd if he wants to tie the knot like they had originally planned, but Todd's face clearly shows that he's hugely taken aback by the whole thing.

Last week, Theo actor James Cartwright spoke about the mindset behind the villain's latest plan, stating that he's "absolutely painting [Todd] into a corner".
"Another reason he's springing it on him is so nobody else can torpedo the whole thing and talk Todd out of it", he added. "For Theo, the quicker it's done, the less can be said. It's almost too late if they're already married.

"He knows he isn't popular, he knows Summer's onto him, he knows George and Christina are onto him, he knows Sarah is a bit suspicious, and he doesn't want anybody to get the opportunity to offer some clarity. So the quicker he rushes it through, the better."
But while Theo is confident in his latest scheme, things are going to come undone for him soon when a case of mistaken identity leads George Shuttleworth to realise exactly what kind of man Theo really is.
