Kym Marsh has revealed that Coronation Street bosses have strict rules for the cast.

The Michelle Connor actress spoke about the measures taken, including actors not being allowed to have their mobile phones on the set of the ITV soap.

"They're big on discipline at Corrie - we're not allowed phones on set and they don't tolerate people being late," Marsh wrote in her latest column for OK magazine.

She also applauded efforts taken by Hollyoaks to encourage good behaviour among their younger cast.

"I know some soaps have fining systems, certainly Hollyoaks did a while ago," she said. "I think when you have younger cast members - which Hollyoaks quite obviously does - it's quite a good thing, as there's no messing about.

"If you're late, you'll lose money."

She continued: "You have to get the balance right, though; younger members of cast do have a life and want to go out and party, which is understandable."

Marsh's comments come after EastEnders star Barbara Windsor complained about how her co-stars would turn up late, or be glued to their phones when filming.
