Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has revealed that her character Bethany Platt will take centre stage in a big new storyline later this year.

Speaking about Bethany's future, Lucy told Digital Spy: "Bethany has actually got quite a big storyline coming up within the next few weeks, few months.
"It's going to be quite dramatic, quite emotional, which she should be used to right now! It's a good one for me to get my teeth into but it's going to be quite an emotional one for Bethany, playing into her insecurities. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out."
Coronation Street has recently appointed former Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks as the show's new producer, with her work beginning on screen later this year.
Discussing the changeover, Lucy continued: "I've met Kate – she's really, really lovely. I'm really excited to see what kind of things she's got in store for Bethany but also the Platts.
"I know there's going to be a lot of Platt-related things happening, so I'm excited. I think it's good – a nice, fresh producer is always exciting."

While viewers will have to wait a bit longer to see Bethany's story, she's currently closely involved in the ongoing Lauren Bolton plot.
Scheming villain Joel Deering is desperately trying to cover his tracks after brutally attacking Lauren earlier in the year.
Lucy told us: "Bethany has been heavily involved in it, trying to figure out who's done it. Obviously she thinks that it's Nathan, so when she finds out that it's not Nathan, she's going to be quite involved in all of that.
"I would quite like her to be involved in Joel's downfall – I feel like she's got herself pretty heavily involved so far! But it'd also be nice for Lauren to get the justice that she deserves, like Bethany got the justice last time with Nathan. I think it's important for Lauren to get her own justice."

Lucy took part in the Inside Soap Awards photoshoot to represent the ever-popular Platt clan, who are up for Best Family this year.
Asked why fans should send votes Corrie's way this year, she laughed: "Corrie is the best soap, obviously! We tackle storylines really well, we work with the best group of people, the best actors. We've got so much amazing stuff coming up for viewers to be hooked on. So vote for all things Corrie!"
