Coronation Street's Dev to make big announcement over love life

Coronation Street's Dev Alahan is set to make a big announcement regarding his love life next week, as he makes his feelings for Bernie Winter clear.

Having upset Bernie when he denied they were an item recently, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) will be seen striving to make amends in scenes scheduled to air on Monday, January 24.

He says he'd like to treat both of their families to dinner at Speed Daal, and suggests that they declare themselves an official couple during the meal – an offer Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) wastes no time in accepting.

Later, at the restaurant, just as everyone is tucking into their food, Dev takes Bernie's hand and tells their nearest and dearest that they're dating. How will they all react?

Perhaps more importantly, will Dev manage to stand by Bernie when she's accused of being involved in Joseph's disappearance, or will their romance prove to be short-lived?

Chesney Brown's son Joseph went missing earlier this month when his well-meaning dad informed the school, against his wishes, that he was being picked on. The locals were left worried sick, while viewers discovered that Joseph's cousin Hope Stape had been helping him hide out in her attic.

Ultimately, the pair's sneaky plan was rumbled by Clint Stubbins (Fergus O'Donnell), Bernie's friend, who realised he could pocket the £30,000 reward if he returned Joseph to his family safely. So, he bribed Hope with £100 and escorted the reluctant runaway home – which Bernie will soon learn herself.

Only she won't tell the police, she'll get caught out trying to cut a deal with Clint herself. Oh dear.
