Coronation Street's Jade Rowan will bow out of the soap next year when her storyline reaches its natural conclusion.

It's been a rollercoaster ride since she entered Weatherfield this year and Jade's secret connection to serial killer John Stape (she's his daughter) will be exposed next month.

According to a Metro source, although the door won't be fully closed on the character, "this was a story which had a very definite beginning, middle and end – it's not a case of the character of Jade being written out, the storyline arc was decided from the outset."

Actress Lottie Henshall also took some time to reflect on her Corrie experience, describing the return of John as "awesome" and admitting that she's known about the twist since June/July when she first got the job.

"The response was amazing, great, very overwhelming but I was prepared for it."

Meanwhile, Lottie promised that Jade and Fiz will collide in the final chapter of her storyline, teasing: "Jade's intention is just to keep Hope safe, she genuinely thinks that Fiz is a bad person, she has been brainwashed into thinking that.

"So her priority is Hope, and looking after Hope, so she'll go to any lengths to make sure that Hope is okay."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
