Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn has thanked fans for their 'overwhelming' support following the broadcast of Sinead Tinker's final scenes.
On Friday (October 25), viewers were left in floods of tears as the soap aired Sinead's devastating death scenes, as she lost her battle with cancer.

In response to the major reaction the hour-long episode received, Katie tweeted: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing support and love.
"Thank you to every single person who makes Coronation Street the brilliant show that it is and most importantly, THANK YOU to every single viewer for following Sinead's journey."
She continued: "To every single person that is, or has been affected by cancer, stay strong! Seek comfort in family, friends and loved ones. Don't be afraid to ask for help and don't be afraid to feel however it is you feel! My heart is with you all, be brave and fight.

Last night, the actress also praised her on-screen husband Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel Osbourne, saying she "couldn't have asked for a better actor to work alongside on this story".
"You my darling have been absolutely incredible," she added. "I can't wait to carry on watching how it all unfolds for Daniel."
This week, ITV announced that Sinead's storyline has led to a rise in cervical cancer screenings, with the channel sharing that GPs have reported an increase in testing since Sinead's illness started playing out on screen, with surgeries saying that all of their screening appointments have been booked up as a result.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
