Coronation Street is reportedly lining up a shock illness scare for Emma Brooker.
According to The Sun, the character – who is played by Alexandra Mardell – is set to have a worrying collapse in upcoming scenes, sparking fears that she's inherited Jim McDonald's condition.
Emma recently discovered that she is Steve McDonald's biological daughter from his relationship with her mum Fiona Middleton. And now, the publication reports that Jim's illness may have skipped a generation with Steve to instead threaten Emma.
The Sun goes on to say that Emma will soon start to complain of feeling unwell before eventually collapsing in agony. Gary Windass will then find her unconscious in the street and call for help.
The McDonalds will reportedly be left fearing that Emma has inherited Jim's myotonic dystrophy, a genetic disorder that gradually weakens the muscles and can result in disability and heart problems.
Jim was diagnosed with the condition back in 2014 and suffered serious health issues as a result.
What to Read Next
While Steve and the rest of Jim's family have been given the all clear, Emma has not yet been tested for the illness.
