Coronation Street has reassured concerned fans that Adam Barlow isn't gone for good, declaring that he will in fact be back "soon".

Adam departed the cobbles last night (February 1) after being caught up in a huge drama between Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and Gary Windass (Mikey North).

After inviting Sarah over to his flat and making a move on her, there were big repercussions for her relationship with Gary after Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) spilled the beans to him.

Adam then decided he needed a change of scenery and told Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) that he planned to go travelling for a few months, eventually departing in a taxi.

However, Coronation Street has now confirmed that he will in fact be back soon, tweeting to a concerned fan who asked about him leaving the cobbles: "He's only going away for a little bit - we'll see Adam again soon x."

Digital Spy can also confirm that Adam actor Samuel Robertson has not left the show and will be back after a short break.

We imagine there'll be more drama to come with Adam, Sarah and Gary when the former returns to the cobbles soon.
