Things are about to get a whole lot worse for Brian, as his daughter Mel confronts him over the sickening rumours about him and her best friend Rachel. For the umpteenth time Brian denies that anything untoward has happened, insisting that it's just schoolyard gossip.
However, things are closing in and Brian knows that he needs to tell his wife about the scandal circulating about him. Despite masterfully masking his true story to his daughter, Brian is on edge and remains concerned.
Later, Brian gets a call from Rachel and ends up going to the caravan park. He is visibly stressed at the situation at hand, and is seething at Rachel for the mess she has landed him in.
Rachel has grand plans for the pair to elope to France and escape the mess, but Brian has other ideas and tells Rachel in no uncertain terms that he is staying put. However, Brian's sordid manipulation and grooming of Rachel still continues.
At long last Brian ends their repugnant relationship, placing the blame firmly with a heartbroken Rachel.
Meanwhile, Patricia is still battling her feelings for Liam - evidently this "cooling period" is more icy than cold. Liam's heartfelt mention of his late wife in the television appeal does nothing to ease the Hennessy matriarch's feelings of rejection.
