Tom Hardy had a rather testy exchange with a reporter asking about his sexuality over the weekend.

Things did not go well for LGBT news outlet Daily Xtra's intrepid reporter at the Toronto Film Festival when he asked the Legend actor whether it's "hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality".

"What on earth are you on about?" a seemingly confused Hardy initially replied.

The reporter tried to clarify that he was "referring to an interview given to Attitude magazine a few years ago", but got nowhere.

"I don't find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality. Are you asking me about my sexuality?" Hardy answered

When the reported agreed that Hardy's sexuality was his question, the still confused-looking actor asked: "Why?"
