Meghan Markle debuted the dress, a stunningly simple boat-neck gown by Claire Waight Keller for Givenchy, earlier today during the wedding ceremony at St. George's Chapel.

For the evening reception, the more intimate portion of the wedding, Markle changed into a Stella McCartney gown with a thoroughly modern halter neckline.

The Palace announced the dress details on Twitter: "The Bride's evening dress is designed by Stella McCartney and is a bespoke lily white high neck gown made of silk crepe.

"The Bride is wearing shoes from Aquazurra made in silky satin, with nude mesh, with soles painted in baby blue."

There was a lot of speculation that the actual wedding dress would be Stella McCartney, and this proves the buzz wasn't far off.

It was rumored that McCartney would be designing the dress after Markle was seen in a Stella McCartney cape dress in April.

What to Read Next

"I read this morning that you are designing the royal wedding dress," a reporter from The Guardian said to the designer in April.

"Oh, you did, did you? You're hilarious. How many designers have you said that to today?" When the reporter pressed, McCartney didn't budge: "Well, you didn't actually ask a question."

Kate Middleton also wore a second gown during her 2011 wedding to Prince William. Hers was long, princessy, white, and also by Alexander McQueen (the designer of Middleton's original wedding gown) for comparison:
