Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now completely finished ahead of its December release date.

Director Rian Johnson has confirmed that Episode 8 has wrapped on Instagram with a photo from the editing suite: "Aaaand that's a wrap on the hardest working post production team in the galaxy. Going to miss sitting in dark rooms with these goobers."

So now we just have to wait, hopefully with a trailer soon to arrive to help pass the time, rather than watching the first trailer for the millionth time.

Earlier this week, a deleted tweet from Luke Skywalker himself hinted that we would be getting the new trailer for The Last Jedi in just a couple of weeks. "Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th – for no reason in particular," Mark Hamill teased.

Now this could all be a ruse on Hamill's part, especially as he's spent all of The Last Jedi's campaign so far telling everyone NOT to read anything about the movie, but the fact the response was deleted adds an extra level of intrigue.

One thing we do know is that we shouldn't be expecting a surprise return for Harrison Ford after Han Solo was killed off in The Force Awakens.

What to Read Next

"I'm finished with Star Wars if Star Wars is finished with me. I'd rather not [return]. You know, at this point, I'd rather do something else. Just because it's more interesting to do something new," Ford explained.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in UK cinemas on December 14 and US cinemas on December 15.
