Taron Egerton was one of the breakout stars of 2015 with his turn as Eggsy in Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service, and he's already excited about revisiting the role in the sequel.

The actor, who is currently starring in sports comedy Eddie the Eagle, told Collider that the follow-up to the Mark Millar comic book-inspired spy film has a "brilliant" script.

While the first film was all shot in the UK, Egerton said the sequel will be going global.

"It's a far more international story, we're going to some incredible places," he said.

And he also promised a villain to rival Samuel L Jackson's deranged tech entrepreneur Richmond Valentine. Egerton said: "This new one is so brilliantly written I wish I could play it. It's amazing."

While Egerton and director Vaughn are both attached, it's still not clear whether Colin Firth will be involved in the sequel (and if you've not seen Kingsman, stop reading here!).

Firth's gentleman spy Harry Hart aka Galahad met an untimely end in the first film, but last year Vaughn said that he might still make an appearance in the follow-up.
