Timothy Spall is back on the big screen this week in new "un-romantic comedy" Virginia Woolf's Night & Day, starring alongside the likes of Haley Bennett, Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders and Lily Allen.
To mark the upcoming release, Digital Spy has an exclusive clip from the "compelling" period drama, which you can watch above. It sees Spall's character Mr Hilbury lash out at his daughter Katharine (Bennett), who is determined to follow her passion for astronomy against her parents' wishes.
If the clip – which sees Spall on terrifying form – has got you interested in seeing the rest, Virginia Woolf's Night & Day is released in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday 19 June.

When the adaptation was first announced (via The Hollywood Reporter), Virginia Woolf's Night & Day was praised for its "incredibly compelling, fresh and funny script" by sales agent WestEnd Films, who added that it's "fun and contemporary in tone".
"Virginia Woolf's themes feel strikingly current, exploring women balancing romantic love with careers," they added.

The movie received its world premiere earlier this month as the opening movie of this year's SXSW London, with the first reviews praising lead star Haley Bennett and the rest of the star-studded cast.
"Bennett does much to keep things moving forward. Bright and hugely likeable, she captures the inner fire and free-spirited nature that keeps her character railing against the system when change seems impossible," praised ScreenDaily.

The Guardian added: "The film removes Woolf's supercilious condescension towards the self-betterment of newly educated lower and middle classes, and instead focuses on a sweet-natured story, performed with conviction by its all-star ensemble cast, interspersed with dreamlike set pieces."
