After a wait of 13 years, the Scary Movie franchise is back, with the sixth instalment of the horror-parody series now playing in cinemas. It's been an even longer wait for the Wayans family, who are back after 25 years away.
The latest film, simply titled Scary Movie, sees Marlon and Shawn Wayans reprise their respective roles of Shorty Meeks and Ray Wilkins, as the pair reunite with Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) and Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall).
Upon their reunion, the group are chased by another masked slasher, though it seems to be the same one from 26 years ago. Naturally, there are plenty of killings, hijinks and meta references.

While we won't spoil what happens in the plot, we can tell you that it will be worth staying in your seat if you're heading to the cinema this weekend, with the film featuring two post-credits scenes!
The first, which happens after the first section of credits, spoofs Robert Eggers's gothic horror Nosferatu. The second sequence, meanwhile, runs through the majority of the credits, and parodies an interrogation scene from Longlegs.

Directed by Michael Tiddes and featuring a slew of celebrity cameos, Scary Movie faces some stiff competition in the horror genre at the moment, with more traditional fare such as Backrooms and Obsession dominating at the box office.
Though the Scary Movie franchise has never been a critical darling, the latest film has been panned by critics, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a meagre approval rating of 28% from 60 reviews.
"The film's stubborn insistence that nothing about Scary Movie needs to change and it's the children who are wrong now makes its profane and controversial jokes feel conservative," noted TheWrap, while Metro called it "offensively unfunny".

"Scary Movie gets its biggest laughs when it strays away from the formula based on spotting references and finds humour from other sources," opined The Film Verdict, while The Daily Beast dubbed it "scattershot".
IndieWire, however, was far more enthusiastic about the horror-comedy, writing: "Faris finds surprising ways to make bland or flat jokes feel sincere. Hall is similarly delightful as fan favourite Brenda Meeks."
Scary Movie is in cinemas now.
