Avengers: Doomsday doesn't hit cinemas until December, but hype for the film has been growing in the past few weeks thanks to the release of four teasers featuring returning characters like Captain America and Thor.

The 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe boasts a mammoth cast featuring everyone from Pedro Pascal and Sebastian Stan to Tom Hiddleston and Ian McKellen plus, of course, Robert Downey Jr.

But fans are hoping that one more MCU favourite will be added to the mix — Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

Valkyrie was last seen in the MCU when she made a cameo in 2023's The Marvels, where she took a group of Skrull refugees back to New Asgard after being called upon by Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

Now, in an interview with The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, Thompson was asked if she'll be a part of Doomsday. While the actor didn't confirm an appearance, she rather tellingly didn't offer a flat-out denial either.

"Oh, [I’m] not able to confirm anything," Thompson told the podcast.

When asked if there was a side of Valkyrie she’d still like to explore in the MCU, Thompson was much more forthcoming, saying she'd "always be interested" in bringing out other sides of the character.

"Yeah, definitely," Thompson said. "And I think this is the coolest thing about hanging out inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: all the incredible people that you get to play with, both the incredible craftspeople that create these worlds, all the amazing directors that they invite into these spaces, and all of the incredible talent.

"And also, I think there are so many tonal spaces you can go to inside of a Marvel movie. You can explore drama and comedy, and there’s so much to do.

"And I just love the character so much that I would always be interested. For sure."

Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
