Cold Storage, the sci-fi thriller starring Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson, has released its first image.
The upcoming film, which is based on David Koepp’s 2019 novel, is set in a world where a “highly infectious microorganism” – capable of “extinction-level destruction” – escapes from a military facility and endangers the planet.
With the fate of humanity in the balance, a retired bioterror operative and two “unlikely” heroes from the facility engage in a race against time as they attempt to destroy the organism and save mankind from total eradication.
Ahead of its proposed release later this year, the first image from Cold Storage has now been unveiled, with Stranger Things star Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell being pictured as they shine a torch through a cracked wall.
Though not pictured, we do know that Neeson is playing the lead role of Robert Quinn, with Manville’s role being a mystery. Cold Storage has been directed by Jonny Campbell, with Koepp adapting his own novel into a screenplay.

“Cold Storage has everything I’d want to see in a movie,” said Koepp, who has previously penned screenplays for Steven Spielberg, of the project (via StudioCanal). “It’s scary, funny, exhilarating, surprising, and riotously entertaining.”
“[Producer] Gavin [Polone], Jonny and I have huge ambitions for this, and are so excited to get cracking with our partners at StudioCanal. Can’t wait to launch sales at Cannes!” continued the screenwriter, who recently wrote the scripts for Presence and Black Bag.

“Cold Storage is classic entertainment combining epic scale and microscopic detail,” added Campbell,” who has directing credits on several television series such as Doctor Who, Westworld and Dracula.
“I was instantly hijacked by David’s mischievously witty tone and his unique blend of comic absurdity and visionary reality. Who wouldn’t fall in love with a gut-wrenching alien parasite?” he added.
Cold Storage has no release date.
