A Minecraft Movie is now out in cinemas, and boasts some major talent in its cast including Jason Momoa, Jack Black and Jennifer Coolidge.

But there's also some famous faces that are hidden in plain sight among the voice cast of the various inhabitants of the Overworld.

You might recognise the voice of the evil Piglin queen Malgosha, but not be able to quite place it. So we're here to help by revealing that Malgosha is voiced by New Zealand actor Rachel House.

House has been in the likes of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Next Goal Wins and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, but arguably her most notable live-action role was as Topaz in Thor: Ragnarok.

Minecraft isn't the first time she's lent her voice to a role either as she played Gramma Tala in Moana and its sequel, as well as voicing Terry in Pixar's Soul and Mamá Coco in Coco's Māori-language dub.

Flight of the Conchords duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are both in the movie too. You'll have spotted Clement as storage unit auctioneer Daryl near the start of the movie, but you won't have spotted McKenzie.

McKenzie was the on-set performer for Nitwit, the Villager who Vice Principal Marlene (Coolidge) hits with her car before the two strike up a romance over dinner.

While Nitwit's head was CGI, McKenzie was in a physical block costume made by the movie's costume designer Amanda Neale, so he was there acting opposite Coolidge in their scenes together.

"It was a lot because Bret is – I mean, this is not very nice to say – more attractive than Nitwit. Bret McKenzie's a genius and it's hard to do a performance through a cardboard box and still have you laughing, but he was able to do it," Coolidge told Digital Spy.

Who voices the villager in A Minecraft Movie?

Nitwit doesn't speak anything other than Villager during the movie, but the credit scene reveals that he has learnt to speak human.

We're pretty sure Nitwit's unique vocal delivery will be immediately obvious. However, if it wasn't, we can confirm that Nitwit is voiced by Matt Berry.

There's a Flight of the Conchords connection there too because Berry played Laszlo in What We Do in the Shadows, which was created by Jemaine Clement and based off the movie he wrote and directed with Taika Waititi.
