After rumours linking them to the role, Amy Pascal and David Heyman have been confirmed as the producers of the next James Bond movie.

Both producers have heavyweight experience dealing with major franchises, with Pascal producing every Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man: Homecoming and Heyman responsible for all eight Harry Potter movies as well as the first two Paddington movies.

"James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema," they said in a joint statement.

"We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure."

The next James Bond movie is likely still a while away, but this official announcement suggests that the Amazon MGM Studios deal with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson has been finalised.

Whenever the next James Bond movie arrives, it will mark the first movie in the series to not be produced by a member of the Broccoli family.

As for who the next 007 will be, Pierce Brosnan has had his say on why Bond should remain British, while Daniel Craig was among the major 007 stars to respond to the shock Amazon deal.
