Glen Powell has shared a promising update on the upcoming remake of the classic action film The Running Man.
In an interview with IndieWire, the Twisters star revealed that he's set to start filming on the project in autumn.
Powell will be playing the role of Ben Richards – famously portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 movie – with Edgar Wright of Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho fame directing.
"I’m going to be shooting The Running Man in the fall," he told the outlet, explaining that he will be juggling filming duties whilst studying for his degree in Spanish and early American history at the University of Texas.

"I have to be back for the proctored exams," he said. "So, we’re figuring that out for two or three times a semester, I’ll come back for all my stuff. Edgar [Wright] has been very nice about letting me finish my degree in the middle of his massive movie."

Speaking about the remake, Powell shared that he and Wright are "going back and forth on script stuff", which they're both finding fun.
"The world that Edgar’s developed on this thing is just outrageous," he adds. "It’s so good. And really, we’re just both such big fans of the Stephen King book [the movie is based on], and it’s going to be a great character. I’m so fired up about it."

Working with the director has been a long-held professional dream for Powell, who says he is "such an Edgar Wright man".
"The fact that I get to work with him right now is just so damn cool," he continued. "Edgar has also become a friend in the last few years. So that’s been really fun for us to finally get in the trenches together."
The Running Man remake follows the same premise as the original film, but it is set in 2025 in a dystopian United States overrun by violence and poverty.
Ben Richards (Powell) participates in the bloodthirsty reality show The Running Man, in which contestants attempt to win a cash prize by escaping a team of assassins.
The novel was written by renowned horror writer King under his publishing pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1982, with the '80s big-screen adaptation following five years later.
