Avengers star Josh Brolin is set to join Glen Powell in the remake of the classic action movie The Running Man.
The original movie, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, was based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, which King wrote under his pseudonym Richard Bachman.
The Running Man remake will follow the same premise as the 1987 movie, but will be set in 2025 in a dystopian United States, overrun by violence and poverty.

According to Deadline, Brolin is in final negotiations to appear as the movie's villain. However, specific details regarding Brolin's role are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Powell will play the lead role of Ben Richards, who participates in the violent reality show known as The Running Man. In order to win a cash prize and save his gravely ill daughter, Ben must escape a team of assassins ruthlessly hunting him down.

Set for a November 21, 2025 release date, the movie will also star Karl Glusman, Mission: Impossible 8's Katy O'Brian, Lee Pace and All American star Daniel Ezra. Meanwhile, Edgar Wright will serve as director, co-writer and producer.

Elsewhere, Brolin is due to appear in the third instalment of the Knives Out series, titled Wake Up Dead Man.
Filming for the highly anticipated murder mystery officially wrapped in August, with director Rian Johnson confirming the news.
The movie boasts a star-studded cast featuring Daniel Craig, Josh O'Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
Though the plot is still being kept under wraps, fans have speculated if the title Wake Up Dead Man is connected to the U2 song of the same name.
