Emma Stone has debuted a pixie cut in a darker hue at this year's Golden Globes.

The Poor Things star attended the ceremony last night (January 5) with her husband, Dave McCary. She wore a strapless red Louis Vuitton gown, and debuted a shorter hairdo in a darker shade than her usual copper.

It's reported that her hair transformation is for a role in an upcoming movie – with speculation that it might be for the actor's next project with writer-director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Stone is starring in his sci-fi dark comedy Bugonia, in which she plays the CEO of a big pharmaceutical company.

The movie also reunites Lanthimos with Jesse Plemons and Alicia Silverstone. They respectively portray a conspiracist beekeeper who believes Stone's character is a malevolent alien, and his mother.

While she wasn't nominated in any acting category this year, Stone and McCary's company Fruit Tree produced Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain, which was nominated in four categories, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Eisenberg's latest directorial effort didn't win the Best Picture Globe – but Kieran Culkin, his co-star in the movie, went home with the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

Fruit Tree also produced Eisenberg's directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World, released in 2022 and starring Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard and Julianne Moore.

This year, Stone's producing banner also backed queer horror sensation I Saw the TV Glow from writer-director Jane Schoenbrun, and Problemista from SNL star Julio Torres.

Bugonia will be released in the UK and US on November 7.
