Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has got an exciting update, with the directors being formally announced after a long delay.
The animated film is intended to be the conclusion of the Spider-Verse trilogy, with the action continuing the multiverse-spanning adventures of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld).
Following the release of Across the Spider-Verse in 2023, it was anticipated that the follow-up - which was originally set to be released in March 2024 - would hit the big screen quickly after, but the project has been beset by delays.

Though a release date is still unknown, the film has received an exciting update, with Deadline confirming that Bob Persichetti – who co-directed the first instalment, Into the Spider-Verse – and Justin K Thompson had been announced as directors.
The announcement is not necessarily a new development, however, with Christopher Miller – who conceived the franchise with collaborator Phil Lord – clarifying via X/Twitter that Persichetti and Thompson were always intended to be the directors for the third film.

“To anyone confused: Bob and Justin are not the *new* directors, they have been the directors of BTSV (Beyond the Spider-Verse) the entire time - and doing a great job. They were just announced today,” Miller wrote.
Persichetti and Thompson, the latter of whom co-directed the second film, released a statement following the news, saying: “We have had the immense privilege of being part of Miles’ journey from the very beginning, and directing the conclusion to his story is beyond exciting.
