Margot Robbie has revealed she had to defend one scene in Barbie from Mattel's boss.
Ahead of the anticipated movie adaptation about the iconic doll, the actress spoke to Time about bringing it to life, explaining how she helped director Greta Gerwig convince the toy company's COO and president Richard Dickson.
At one point, Dickson flew to the London set to argue against a particular scene that he felt was off-brand. However, Robbie and Gerwig performed the scene, and he changed his mind.

"When you look on the page, the nuance isn't there, the delivery isn't there," Robbie explained.
Further recalling meeting Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz back in 2018 about the project, Robbie revealed: "In that very first meeting, we impressed upon Ynon we are going to honor the legacy of your brand, but if we don't acknowledge certain things – if we don't say it, someone else is going to say it.
"So you might as well be a part of that conversation."

Meanwhile, Robbie recently opened up about the viral feet scene from Barbie's trailer, which sees her character step out of her heels and her feet maintaining the same arching as in the shoes.
Revealing to Fandango that the shot took "probably about eight takes", she added: "They are my feet. I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor, for the double-sided tape for the shoes so they wouldn't come off – so I could get my feet out of them.
"I was holding onto a bar, but that's it. I wasn't in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held onto the bar above camera."
Barbie is due to be released in cinemas on July 21.
