Bridget Regan, star of Agent Carter and The Winchesters, has landed her next lead movie role in psychological drama Canvas.

According to Deadline, Regan will star in Canvas alongside fellow Marvel star Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Samuel Roukin, as well as City on a Hill star Joanne Kelly, The Morning Show's Alain Uy and Bethany Anne Lind from Ozark.

Principal photography for the project, which will serve as the feature debut of co-directors Melora Donoghue and Kimberly Stuckwisch, has already wrapped.

The psychological drama will tell the story of two estranged sisters named Marissa Hale and Eve Hale, who will be played by Regan and Kelly respectively.

An official synopsis for the film reads: "Pitted against each other since youth and raised to believe true artists are only formed through suffering, the sisters reunite after years of estrangement. One sister learns authenticity, the other regret, but neither escapes the sins of their father."

"We have collaborated on incredible music video projects that opened our eyes to bold and impactful storytelling and inspired us to create our own creative visions. The experience of bringing our feature directorial debut to life was both humbling and exhilarating," said the directing duo.

Bridget Regan is best known for her portrayal of Dottie Underwood in Marvel's Agent Carter series where she appeared in multiple episodes as a former Black Widow and Soviet spy.

Agent Carter bosses Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas previously described the character's origin as: "Basically Dottie is the product of a Russian spy programme which could end up being the Black Widow programme."

Regan is currently starring in the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters.

The Winchesters airs every Tuesday on The CW in the US. Broadcast details for the UK are still to be confirmed.
