Christian Bale reveals the Star Wars role he's always wanted

Christian Bale has opened up about the niche Star Wars character he has always wanted to play but hasn't had the opportunity to.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bale said that he has always wanted to play the Stormtrooper from A New Hope who hits his head on the doorframe. The blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment is treasured by hardcore Star Wars fans.

"All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through," Bale said.

"The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it."

Bale said that, while this specific character would be awesome to play, he would jump at the chance to play any kind of role that would be more substantial than a clumsy Stormtrooper.

Bale has so far starred in two major franchises — as Batman in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy and, recently, as Gorr the God Butcher in the MCU's Thor: Love and Thunder. It sounds like he's keen to add Star Wars to the list, too, and, given the ever-increasing content we are getting from a galaxy far, far, away, it feels like that opportunity could realistically present itself.
