The first trailer for Christian Bale and Margot Robbie's new murder mystery film Amsterdam has officially dropped.
The film centres around Robbie, Bale and John David Washington's characters, who find themselves accused of committing a murder they witnessed described in the film's synopsis as: "Three friends – a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney – become the prime suspects in a murder in the 1930s."
The trailer, which you can see above, opens with a dead body being rolled into view as Chris Rock's character notes incredulously: "You've got a dead white man in a box. Not even a casket. It doesn't even have a top on it. Who do you think is going to get in trouble here?"

As the leading characters are trying to avoid finding themselves framed for murder, we also get flashbacks into the trio's relationship. It's revealed that they met in Belgium during
World War I and have since become close friends.

"We formed a pact and swore to protect each other, no matter what," Bale's character reflects.
Later in the trailer, it suggests there could be more to the murder than originally thought. "My friend was killed because of something monstrous that he had seen," Robert De Niro's character says.
In another scene, Robbie's character laments: "This is all turning out to be a lot larger than any of us."

Directed by David O Russell (American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook), the film boasts a very impressive cast.
Robbie, Bale, Washington, Rock, and De Niro are joined by the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldaña, Rami Malek and even Taylor Swift.
Amsterdam lands in cinemas on November 4.
