Birds of Prey actress Jurnee Smollett has weighed in on the possibility of portraying Black Canary again.
The Worlds of DC blockbuster arrived on the big screen earlier this year, earning a touch over $200 million at the box office, with no official sequel in the works just yet.
Sitting down with Entertainment Weekly recently, Smollett revealed: "It's no secret how much I loved playing Black Canary, and [I was] so honoured to take on that mantle. I would absolutely do it again if given a chance."

This isn't the first time Smollett has considered the future of her on-screen martial arts specialist, as back in February she spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about how her performance was consciously contained due to the nature of the film.
"She's a beast, but I had to really be patient and kind of like reel that in because it is an origin story," she explained. "She's not yet there, so it was great to explore this idea of, you know, a woman who's really needing to be emancipated from a state of mind. Because she's really the one in her own way.

Smollett added: "She's the most powerful person in the room. She's got the Canary Cry and yet she's choosing to hide it. And she's very much the reluctant hero."
As for her own spin-off? "That would be incredible."
