Director Cathy Yan has hit back at claims that Birds of Prey reshot scenes involving the statue of Ewan McGregor's villain Roman Sionis/Black Mask.
Journalist and critic Grace Randolph suggested that there was a storyline cut from the film where "you could see Roman's dick on the statue in the picture in the diamond - and he was upset it looked 'small' so that's why he was so fixated on getting it back".

However, Yan replied: "This is not true. There has never been any discussion around the size of Roman's dick. I can't believe I even have to write that! The original script called for an image of Roman as Michelangelo's David. You know? Art?
"If that's a dick pic then the Louvre is full of them."
The filmmaker was soon faced with another query from a fan of the movie: "Honest question. If the pic was tasteful why was he so hellbent on getting it back?"
She explained: "It was a joke to show how narcissist he is. It didn't work – we all agreed – so we rewrote some ADR. That's it. Absolutely no reshoots we're devoted to this nonsense issue."

The whole exchange started after Yan expressed sympathy with fellow Worlds of DC director David Ayer, who said that he had to reshoot parts of Suicide Squad because it was "too dark".
"I'm so sorry this happened to you, David. I know the pain," Yan wrote, prompting many to speculate that she had been talking about Birds of Prey.
But now that the so-called 'dick pics' issue has been put to bed by the woman who made it, can we all just move on?
