Birds of Prey is being described as "neo-blood-soaked", "ridiculous" and "wildly violent"... but in a good way!
The next Worlds of DC movie is promoted by Warner Bros as the the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn – which means no Suicide Squad anywhere in sight and definitely no Mr J!
Instead, Ms Quinzel aligns herself with fellow female heroes Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Gotham PD's Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) and the mysterious Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) when they all end up on the wrong side of local crime boss Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).
And it's looking like DC has officially turned the corner after its infamously rocky star, following the recent successes of Aquaman and Shazam!.
Digital Spy found a lot to like about Harley and friends' joyride through Gotham City, with only a problem typical of comic book movies popping up again.
Our first reaction read: "So, #BirdsOfPrey is absolutely bananas and *so* much fun! Some pacing problems aside, it's a neon-blood-soaked, funny, violent, anti-hero caper best enjoyed with your best friends and a margarita in hand 🍹👯 Plus, the action choreography is *chefs kiss*"
