Despite the fact that his ninth film is only just in cinemas now, Quentin Tarantino has already teased the first details about his 10th (and possibly last ever) film.

During a press tour in Moscow for his latest flick Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the director said his next movie will be "epilogue-y".

"If you think about the idea of all the movies telling one story and each film is like a train boxcar connected to each other, this one would sort of be the big show-stopping climax of it all," he said.

"And I could imagine that the 10th one would be a little more epilogue-y."

Back in 2014, Tarantino hinted that he'd be retiring after his 10th film, suggesting that his post-directing days may be spent "writing plays and books".

He reiterated his stance just last month when he told Australian GQ: "I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road.

"I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies."

At the moment, it looks like the director's last film is set to be an R-rated Star Trek movie, which would be the first time he's ever helmed a major franchise property.

Would it make sense for this to be the "epilogue-y" last hurrah to his entire filmography? No, not really.

Then again, neither would a Django/Zorro crossover and yet that's on the rumour-mill too.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood arrived on July 26 in the US and will be released in the UK on August 14.
