Avengers: Endgame will finally open in cinemas next week, but that's not the only reason to be excited about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As Marvel gears up to bid farewell to Phase Three, focus is shifting to Phase Four – and Tessa Thompson has an intriguing update about that.

While speaking to LA Times, Tessa – otherwise known as eternal bad-ass and warrior queen Valkyrie – revealed that another Thor film could soon be in the works.

Opening up about the possibility of a fourth standalone Thor adventure, Tessa revealed that "a pitch" for a follow-up "has happened", complete with the return of Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

"I don't know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened," she said. "I think the idea is Taika would come back."

We'll certainly take that.

Elsewhere, Tessa has been as cryptic as ever about Valkyrie's involvement in the upcoming Endgame, refusing to confirm or deny an appearance from the Asgardian.

Despite that all-important character poster, all the actress can say about her character's Endgame fate is, "She's in form." Good to know.

Avengers: Endgame will be released on Thursday, April 25 in the UK and on Friday, April 26 in the US.
