Marvel Comics has finally revealed the identity of the mystery woman who took over as Thor last year.
The original male Thor's former lover Dr Jane Foster has been protecting Earth and Asgard as the Goddess of Thunder.
She was revealed to be battling breast cancer in the previous Thor: God of Thunder series, a condition the Odinson was tragically forced to accept that he could not cure by magic or fighting.
"Jane Foster has been part of the Thor comics and the Thor mythology from almost the very beginning," writer Jason Aaron told ArtsBeat.
"The very act of picking up this hammer, of becoming Thor, is killing her. Where we go from here is the real story."
