After months of leaks, the PS4 Slim is official and it's pretty much what everyone expected.
That means it's the original PlayStation 4 but in a sleeker, skinnier body, and will be the standard PS4 going forward.

Sony has confirmed that its release date is September 15 and it will be priced at £259.
There are rounder corners on the newer model, which slightly detract from the original's angular looks. It's now completely matte, opting to move away from the glossy panel design.
The indication light bar on the PS4 has also disappeared, instead being downsized on the front next to the newly relocated power button. It still performs the same actions - indicating whether it's on, off or in sleep mode - albeit in a much smaller capacity.
As expected, it lacks an optical audio too, which could be a major problem for those without a newer speaker setup.

And a bit like the new Wireless Controller for the Xbox One S, the PS4 Slim comes with a revamped controller design. There's a brand new window for the light bar in the touch pad, letting you know what's going on without a flick of the wrist - and it's also got a slightly more classic PlayStation colour scheme, with flashes of grey rather than being all black.
