Shocking footage emerged this week of a Hezbollah sniper taking out four ISIS combatants in just a couple of minutes, as reported on the news in Iran. Except... well, it wasn't any of that, it was just footage from a game.
According to France 24, Iranian news agencies have been running the footage with headlines like 'Hezbollah sniper hunts down Daesh brutes' and 'Six Daesh combatants are killed in 2 minutes by a Hezbollah sniper'.
But it turns out the footage isn't actually of a man killing people from long range. Well, it is, but the footage is actually from Medal of Honor - so it's long-range murder in video game form. With that in mind - it's not real - have a look at how the video's been shown:
With some off-screen recording, visual tweaks and changes to how scoring systems and HUD elements appear, you too can create videos that confound leading media outlets in foreign countries!
It's not the first time this kind of thing has happened, and as games get all the more realistic - and get all the more obsessed with slavish attention to brutal detail - it's not going to be the last time.
