The CW is going to have an extra two hours of programming to fill next season, which is undoubtedly good news for fans of DC TV.
What to Read Next
Since its inception 12 years ago, The CW has only aired original programming from 8-10pm on Monday through Friday, and yielded Saturday and Sunday exclusively to its local affiliates. But that's changing soon.
The network announced on Wednesday (February 14) that, beginning with the 2018-2019 television season, it will start programming shows from 8pm to 10pm on Sunday nights as well.
The CW's president Mark Pedowitz made the big announcement: "By expanding to six nights, The CW is now able to give our fans even more of the series they're so passionate about.
"Over the past seven years, The CW has added more than 80 hours of original scripted programming to its schedule – now that number can continue to climb, as we grow our broadcast lineup, and continue to add content on every platform."
This is potentially good news for fans of DC TV, since Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning take up five of the ten current hours of CW programming each week.
The schedule got so jam-packed that The CW has had to delay the final episodes of Supergirl's third season until late spring so it could squeeze Legends of Tomorrow into a Monday timeslot.
Let's hope those extra two hours each week will make plenty of room for DC TV, as well as other CW favourites like Supernatural, Riverdale and Jane the Virgin moving forward.
