Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won her historic sixth straight Primetime Emmy Award for Veep.
The star of HBO's political satire earned the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series once again at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 17). She now holds the record for most Emmys won for the same role in the same series.
"We have a great final season that we're about to start filming... We did have a story about impeachment that we scrapped because we were worried that somebody else might get to it first," she joked in her acceptance speech.
More seriously, she stressed: "This is and continues to be the role of a lifetime, and an utter, utter joy."
Her victory for Outstanding Lead Actress was swiftly followed by Veep being named Outstanding Comedy Series, proving that the electorate is still very much behind the show.

In winning tonight, Louis-Dreyfus will give Veep yet more momentum as the cast and writers begin work on the upcoming seventh and final season.
Last month, the Emmy winner opened up about ending Veep by admitting: "I struggled with it. And then it just hit me. It's hard to say goodbye to such a good thing. We struggled with this at Seinfeld as well."
Louis-Dreyfus won out in the Outstanding Lead Actress category this year over Pamela Adlon (Better Things), Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Allison Janney (Mom), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Tracee Ellis Ross (black-ish).
Stephen Colbert hosted the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for CBS on Sunday (September 17).
