Stranger Things is coming to an end soon with its fifth and final season, dropping in three instalments later this month and December, but that doesn't mean we're going to be saying goodbye to that world completely. In fact, a new spin-off show has just been announced.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is a brand-new CG animated series from Netflix that rewinds the clock back a few years, and features the kids from the main show in an unseen adventure, with new monsters threatening the town.

In a teaser video featuring some footage of the spin-off, the Duffer Brothers said: "When we started talking about, 'Is there anything else we want to do with Stranger Things?', this was one of our our first ideas."

"The idea was to kind of invoke an '80s cartoon," they added, stating: "With animation there's really no limits, Eric [Robles, showrunner] and his team can just go wild. And they have."

Robles, best known for creating Fanboy & Chum Chum and Glitch Techs, added: "What we've been able to capture is the magic of Hawkins in a new way.

"So our story takes place between seasons two and three, but we soon learn that nothing is quite as they thought it was. So get your flashlight, get your backpack, because it's gonna be amazing."

While the Duffer Brothers and fellow executive producer Shawn Levy are back on board, the cast from the live-action series won't be reprising their roles for the show.

Instead, we've got Brooklyn Davey Norstedt playing Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha 'EJ' Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will and Brett Gipson as Hopper.

Fans on Instagram are excited for Tales from '85, with one commenting "Glad that we're going to have more content, I don't want it to end". Another echoed this sentiment, writing: "THIS IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED!!!!!!!"

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is set to launch on Netflix 2026. Season 5 of the main show drops its first part on 25 November, with part 2 on 25 December, and part 3 on 31 December.
